Ben Hoffmann is a principal research scientist with CSIRO who now runs Myrmex, a biosecurity consultancy specialising in invasive ant management. His work focuses on the detection, control and eradication of invasive ant species in Australia and the Pacific region.
Hoffmann’s expertise has been central to efforts against tropical fire ants, yellow crazy ants and other introduced species that threaten native ecosystems and agricultural industries. Through Myrmex, he provides technical advice and capacity-building support to land managers, Indigenous ranger groups and government biosecurity agencies across northern Australia and island nations.
