East Coast is a New Zealand parliamentary electorate that returns one Member of Parliament to the House of Representatives.
The electorate first existed from 1871 to 1893 and was re-established in 1999. It covers New Zealand’s eastern coastline and surrounding regions, representing communities whose landscapes and livelihoods are shaped by proximity to the Pacific. The seat has been held by Dana Kirkpatrick of the National Party since 2023. As a coastal electorate, East Coast encompasses areas significant for marine conservation, traditional Māori connections to land and sea, and debates around environmental management — themes that intersect with adventure, exploration and the natural world in Aotearoa.
