Ethan Pringle is an American rock climber known for high-grade ascents across sport climbing, traditional climbing and bouldering disciplines.
Born in San Francisco in 1986, Pringle has established himself through routes at the outer limits of difficulty. In 2015 he repeated Jumbo Love in California, the world’s first climb graded 9b. A year later he completed Blackbeard’s Tears in Yosemite, among the hardest traditional routes globally. His competition record includes national lead climbing titles in both youth and adult categories in the United States, and a silver medal at the World Youth Championships. His climbing spans the technical demands of competition walls, the endurance tests of long sport routes and the commitment required on gear-protected traditional lines.
He appears in Field Notes: Janja Garnbret climbs Bibliographie (9b+) at Céüse, covering another milestone ascent in the upper reaches of sport climbing grades.
