Mongol Rally.

The Mongol Rally is an intercontinental car rally that runs from Europe to Ulan-Ude in Russia, passing through Mongolia. Originally finishing in Ulaanbaatar, the endpoint shifted to avoid the punitive costs and taxes of vehicle import and disposal in Mongolia.

Organised by The Adventurists, the rally operates under three core rules: vehicles must have engines no larger than 1,200 cubic centimetres (ideally under 1,000 cc), teams receive no support, and participants must raise at least £500 for charity. The principal launch takes place at Goodwood Circuit in the United Kingdom, with additional starting points in the Czech Republic. Unlike conventional rallies, no arrangements are made for accommodation, maintenance or fuel, and organisers emphasise that racing on public highways is illegal. The format strips away the infrastructure of mainstream motorsport, leaving teams to navigate thousands of miles across varied terrain in unsuitable vehicles with nothing but their own resourcefulness.
