National Audit Office.

The National Audit Office is an independent parliamentary body in the United Kingdom responsible for auditing central government departments, agencies and non-departmental public bodies.

The NAO examines how public money is spent, checking the accounts of government institutions and conducting value-for-money audits that assess whether public policy has been administered efficiently and effectively. Its independence from government allows it to provide Parliament with objective analysis of public spending. The office scrutinises everything from healthcare budgets to environmental programmes, producing reports that hold departments accountable for their use of taxpayer funds and the delivery of stated objectives.

The NAO features in Field Notes: The Climate Change Committee warns 92% of UK homes will overheat by 2050, in the context of auditing government climate adaptation spending.
