Institute for Government.

The Institute for Government is a British think tank working to improve the effectiveness of government through research and analysis.

Founded as a charity in 2008 with approximately fifteen million pounds from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation at the instigation of Lord Sainsbury, the Institute operates from Carlton Gardens in central London. Its work examines how government functions and where policy delivery can be strengthened. The organisation was named Think Tank of the Year by Prospect magazine in 2019 and received the Political Studies Association’s Political Communicator of the Year award in 2022, recognition of its role in translating complex governance questions for wider audiences.

The Institute for Government appears in Field Notes covering the Climate Change Committee’s warning that ninety-two per cent of UK homes will overheat by 2050.
