Hans Rey is a German mountain bike trials rider and pioneering figure in extreme mountain biking and freeriding. Born Hansjörg Rey on 4 June 1966 in Emmendingen, Germany, he is widely known by his nickname “No Way” Rey.
Rey began riding in the late 1970s and helped define the discipline of mountain bike trials — a technical form of cycling that emphasises balance, precision and obstacle navigation. Since 1987 he has ridden exclusively on GT bikes. His contributions to the sport earned him induction into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1999, cementing his status as one of the most influential riders in mountain biking history. A citizen of both Switzerland and the United States (since 2008), Rey lives in Laguna Beach, California, with his wife Carmen. His career spans decades of innovation in a discipline that bridges athleticism, adventure and the exploration of rugged terrain on two wheels.
