Timothy Santel

Timothy Santel is a retired U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service special agent who dedicated over 32 years to investigating wildlife crime. Best known for leading Operation Snowplow and Operation Crash, his undercover work helped expose international wildlife trafficking networks dealing in big cat parts, rhino horn, and ivory.
Growing up in rural Missouri, Tim’s deep connection to nature fueled a lifelong passion for protecting wildlife. Throughout his career, he risked his life working undercover, building cases against major poaching syndicates, and advocating for the critical role of wildlife rangers.
Today, Tim continues his mission through Focused Conservation, a nonprofit supporting frontline wildlife crime units across Africa. His legacy reminds us that protecting the natural world requires both courage and relentless commitment.
