David Ricardo.

David Ricardo is a naturalist and wildlife photographer based in Ecuador who documents the country’s biodiversity, particularly the reptiles and invertebrates of Amazonian rainforest.

Ricardo’s fieldwork in Ecuador’s lowland forests has contributed photographic records of rarely observed species and behaviours. His observations include cryptic arthropods, mimicry systems and other adaptive strategies among the country’s exceptionally diverse fauna. Working in regions that remain poorly surveyed, his documentation helps build the visual and ecological archive of species whose natural history is still being assembled.

He appears in the Field Notes piece on Taczanowskia waska, a planthopper that mimics the appearance of a deadly fungus in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
