Damaris Benny Daniel is a researcher who served as lead author of a 2022 study on fishing gear used in Kerala, India, published in Ocean Science Journal. The research examined traditional and commercial fishing equipment deployed along the state’s coastal waters.
The study contributed to understanding fishing practices in one of India’s most active marine fishing regions, where small-scale artisanal methods operate alongside industrial fleets targeting species such as sardines, mackerel and prawns.
