Kerala is a genus of moths belonging to the family Nolidae, established by the British entomologist Frederic Moore in 1881.
The Nolidae are a widespread family of small to medium-sized moths, often called tuft moths owing to the raised scale tufts found on the forewings of many species. Moore, who spent much of his career documenting the Lepidoptera of the Indian subcontinent and broader Indo-Australian region, described numerous moth and butterfly taxa during the late nineteenth century. The genus name Kerala reflects the region where specimens were first collected, in what is now the southern Indian state of the same name, an area of considerable biodiversity spanning the Western Ghats and tropical coastline.
