Royal Marine.

Royal Marine is an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse, foaled on 26 April 2016 and trained in Britain.

As a two-year-old in 2018, Royal Marine ranked among the best colts of his generation in Europe. He won two of his three races that season, including the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère, a prestigious Group One contest at Longchamp. The colt showed considerable early promise but failed to reproduce his juvenile form the following year. He was subsequently gelded and ran five times in 2020 without success. While racehorses themselves do not appear as subjects in Adventure Diaries, the landscapes they inhabit — the training grounds, racecourses and breeding estates of Britain and Ireland — form part of the working countryside explored in the podcast’s wider stories of land, animals and human endeavour.
