Bradford Pennine Gateway.

Bradford Pennine Gateway is a national nature reserve in West Yorkshire, England, covering 1,274 hectares across the northern edge of Bradford.

Designated as part of King Charles III’s King’s Series of national nature reserves, it became the first NNR in West Yorkshire. The reserve spans six communities — Haworth, Harden, Bingley, Baildon, Shipley and Ilkley — protecting moorland, woodland and grassland habitats where the industrial valleys of Bradford meet the Pennine uplands. The King’s Series initiative aims to create or expand nature reserves in landscapes that blend ecological value with public access, reflecting a shift towards urban-fringe conservation. Bradford Pennine Gateway stitches together existing conservation sites into a single protected corridor, offering breeding habitat for upland birds and a green threshold between the city and open country.
