Kendal Mountain Festival.

An annual celebration of outdoor and adventure culture held each November in Kendal, Cumbria, on the edge of the English Lake District.

The Kendal Mountain Festival has become one of the most significant gatherings in the international outdoor community, drawing filmmakers, climbers, writers and adventurers from across the globe. Its programme spans adventure films, talks by leading explorers and athletes, workshops and a dedicated mountain literature strand. The festival operates under the direction of Steve Scott and Clive Allen, with Jacqui Scott serving as chief executive. Among its patrons are mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington, climbers Leo Houlding, Graham Zimmerman and Shauna Coxsey, filmmaker Aldo Kane, adventurer Keme Nzerem, broadcaster Louise Minchin and nature writer Robert Macfarlane, who champions the book festival element. Kendal itself sits at the threshold of the Lake District fells, a fitting location for an event that brings together those who document, pursue and reflect on life in wild places.
